Before high performance handcycles, wheelchair racing and b asketball, where the predominant way for a person in a wheelchair to get a good aerobic work out. A sport that although still in its infancy, handcycling, is quickly becoming the first choice for someone looking to satisfy their need for fitness and speed.

Unlike wheelchair racing, where the lack of technique and experience will hinder the athletes performance, handcycling is much more accessible, easier to learn and a more enjoyable sport.

With the newly formed U.S. Handcycling Federation the sport will not only grow but become more and m ore the most visible of all wheelchair sports.
